Amina KhanPakistan-born Amina Khan immigrated to the United States with her family in 1982. Amina attended Georgetown University in Washington, DC, majoring in Government (International Relations) with a minor in Economics. She attended Widener University in Delaware for her Juris Doctor degree (law), and returned to Georgetown University Law Center for a Masters in Law degree (LLM) in International and Comparative Law. Amina joined the U.S. Department of Energy in 1996 as a political appointee under President Clinton’s Administration. She served as a Senior Policy Advisor in the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Office of Defense Programs, which oversees the nation’s nuclear stockpiles. After the conclusion of the Administration, Amina worked as a Project Manager at a government contracts firm, where she managed several small projects as well as consulted on a large project with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Currently, Amina is a director at the McLean Furniture Gallery, her family-owned and operated retail furniture store in Fairfax, Virginia. She is also a practicing attorney, specializing in Trusts and Estates law, in a firm in Washington, DC. In her spare time, Amina is an active member of the Pakistani-American community in particular and the American Muslim community at large. She has consulted with the Buxton Initiative on interfaith dialogue issues, facilitated interfaith dialogue, and also fundraised for political and educational causes. She is a Member of the Executive Board of the Association of Pakistani Professionals and a Founding Member of the Committee for Global Relief, both non-profit organizations. She has lobbied vigorously for minority rights and for the rights of American Muslims. She has spoken publicly at Georgetown University, Johns Hopkins School of Advanced and International Studies and other institutions. Amina resides in Washington, DC with her husband and young son.
